Why do I need an appraisal?
Today's world is much different than it was 20 years ago. There are more people driving without insurance on their vehicles than ever before, let alone just more people on the road. The most common purpose to get an appraisal is simply to make sure your investment is properly insured. Most insurance companys are now requiring appraisals on any vehicle more than 10 years old. Why? Because these vehicles aren't in the vehicle value guides anymore.
Specialty vehicle value guides today only cover basic vehicle values that are comprised of auction results and other sales data available to these publishers. Unfortunately, they don not cover market mood changes or modified, customized vehicles. Also, some publications are playing catch up to the market. There's another reason to have a professional, non-biased vehicle appraisal. Buying stock on yesterdays Wall Street news isn't generally a great idea. I know most people believe nothing will happen to them or their vehicle, but we can share numerous "Oops" stories with you on those that have had bad experiences. Be smart and make sure you are properly insured. Protect your investment! Avoiding any arguments and/or litigation that takes the fun out of the specialty car experience is our goal.
Another common reason for an appraisal is financing. Most financial institutions today require such appraisals because of the age of the vehicle, the vehicles condition, and numerous other financial reasons required at the time.
